I joined the Sandstone, Origination, AI &ML team in August 2021.Where are you located?

What is your position, role and responsibilities?
As the Production Support Leader, I manage and lead a team spread across our Australian and Manila locations and we work closely together with our customers to ensure our product is stable and resolve technical interruptions that may occur and restore systems back to BAU.What attracted you to Sandstone? What motivates you every day?
What attracted me to Sandstone was that I immediately connected with the story of the founders Violet and Bob. I am impressed by how they started the company in their garage and grew it into the organisation it is today. What motivates me every day are the people and culture. I have so much fun working with people in Sandstone. No drama queens, no egos. Everyone is open, supportive of each other, and determined to find the best outcome for our customers.Tell us what is the most important thing you’ve learnt while working at Sandstone?
I have learned a mix of the right people, culture, and management can create and foster a fun team environment to overcome challenges.
What do you love about the FinTech industry?
FinTech is booming with abundant opportunities. I love that I am part of an organisation in an industry that is growing and constantly innovating.
Tell us about yourself: When did you join Sandstone Technology?
I joined as a part-time Undergraduate Developer in April 2019, whilst I was studying Computing at Leeds Beckett University. Since then I have been promoted to Junior Software Developer and more recently to Associate Software Developer.

What is your position, role and responsibilities?
As an Associate Software Developer I am part of the digital banking team focussing on client support and implementation. I work across our suite of digital banking products including BankFast Apply, BankFast and Mobile App. My role is very diverse working from product changes and debugging to implementing our products to implementing new processes to aid the business.
What attracted you to Sandstone?
I had been considering whether to do a placement year during my second year of university. I was fortunate to secure a part time role that allowed me to study and work whilst gaining practical hands on experience. My role now is so varied, that I am still constantly learning and have the opportunity to get involved with a wide variety of tasks.
What motivates you every day?
There are a multitude of pathways available at Sandstone to advance your career and because of this, I can see myself growing and progressing with the company. Having these opportunities available is a huge motivator for me.
Tell us what is the most important thing you’ve learnt while working at Sandstone?
I’ve learnt so many development practices and techniques which you can only learn from working in industry. I’ve also had the opportunity to work closely with our customers and provide solutions confidently.
What do you love about the FinTech industry?
The FinTech industry is so relevant as it’s a major part of people’s lives; the need for digital channels and offerings is increasing at an astronomical pace. The industry is also constantly evolving so there are always new things to learn so I feel accomplished knowing I am developing products which are used daily by thousands of customers across the UK.
Tell us about yourself: When did you join Sandstone Technology?
I joined Sandstone in 2016 as a Business Analyst (BA) and I have since been promoted to Lead BA in Sandstone's Origination, AI & ML team. Prior to joining I've spent more than 18 years of my career working in different roles within the Credit Union industry where I developed a passion for customer focused banking.

What is your position, role and responsibilities?
I work closely with customers to understand their business requirements, analyse and identify solutions. I am also responsible for working with the development and testing teams and supporting the BA Team, providing guidance and development opportunities with a view of enhancing and improving BA activities and client engagement.
What attracted you to Sandstone? What motivates you every day?
I was looking for a fresh new challenge and thought my skills and experience from financial services would be a great fit for Sandstone. Every day in my role is different and there are new projects, relationships, challenges and that’s what keeps me motivated. There is always something new to learn to keep growing!
Tell us what is the most important thing you’ve learnt while working at Sandstone?
I’ve learned a lot of things since working at Sandstone. Not all Fintech’s are the same – for me, Sandstone is much more engaged in the relationship with its clients and focused on client level solutions. I have learned that no matter the size of the Financial Institution, we play an important role in partnering with the client to provide compliant, customer driven business solutions and we should not underestimate the importance of that.

It’s constantly evolving, new challenges, new technologies – that’s exciting!
